Why do you need my support?

Rachael’s is able to provide services to women at a very low overhead. A gift of $50 will pay for 35 meals. Sixty dollars will pay for 20 loads of laundry and 16 showers for people living on the street. Seventy-five dollars will provide supplies for our educational and support groups for three months. One hundred dollars covers two months of intensive case management.

Rachael’s uses a strengths-based approach to help women become more self-sufficient. The staff recognizes that all of the women who come to Rachael's are survivors and can handle far more than most "everyday" people. When times are difficult for women, staff listens, gives positive feedback, and allows women to ask for services as they need them to ensure that no one gets ‘lost in the system’ or is pressured into doing anything for which they are not prepared.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and not waste it?

Rachael’s is both registered and in good standing with the Better Business Bureau of Washington, D.C. Providing quality services to the women who come to the Center is very important to us. The women who use our services fill out a survey every six months to give us feedback on how we can improve. We use this feedback from the women to help us decide how to best allocate our funds.  If there is a specific program you wish to support please let us know at the time of the donation and we will gladly specify your funds for that program. 

How can I Donate?

You can make a donation by using your credit card, transfering securities or by naming Rachael's as a beneficiary on a life-insurance policy or in a will; for more information, contact Andrew Smith, Financial Assistant at (202)682-1005. Checks made out to Rachael's Women's Center can be mailed directly to the center at 1222 11th Street, NW Washington, DC 20001. You can also donate online through Network for Good.
